Help design a tattoo
Since this blog is all about design and Web 2.0 principles (such as crowdsourcing), I figured I’d help out a friend that requested some help from any of you with regards to the designing of his tattoo. Considering that I’m just a web designer, I don’t think my grid-based designs would be of any significant help in terms of designing a tattoo (even though I’d love to be able to draw like that!)… So I guess that’s where you need to put your hand up and say “Hey Adii! I wanna design a tattoo!”… Right?
Well, I think this is a pretty cool thing that Nic is doing - especially if you consider that he could theoretically find a bucketload of photos of tattoo’s online and simply copy a tattoo of a guy in Bulgaria. But instead he is actually looking to use one of the most powerful collaboration mediums in the world (if you missed the reference; it is the internet), to create something personal and special.
I’m pretty curious to see how this will turn out, considering that yes, we live in South Africa (where the new media space isn’t that populated just yet) and I dunno whether this message will reach the right target market (people that can draw). But nonetheless, I’d love for Nic to crowdsource his tattoo in this way!
What do you think of the whole concept? Do you not think it’s a pretty awesome way to get a tattoo designed? Think it’ll be successfull?
